Pearland Mayor, new councilmember take oath of office

The Pearland City Council met in special session Monday (May 19) to canvas the votes from the May 10 city election. Brazoria County Justice of the Peace Judge Starkenburg administered the Oath of Office to newly-elected City Councilmember Gary Moore and Mayor Tom Reid who recently won re-election.

Reid was elected to his first term in 1978 and served as mayor until 1990. Five years later, he was again re-elected and has served consecutive terms since that time.

Reid wins another term as Pearland Mayor

Tom Reid won another term as Pearland Mayor Saturday. According to unofficial results posted on the Brazoria County Clerk’s website, Reid received 69.4 percent of the votes (2,273), compared to 30.5 percent (1,000) for challenger Woody Owens.

In the Pearland City Council race Gary Moore beat Susan Sherrouse for Position Three 59 percent to 41 percent (1,793-1,246).
