Toys For Tots wins at Pearland Police vs. Fire basketball game

The 22nd Annual Guns and Hoses Charity Basketball Game benefiting Toys For Tots was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 13) in the Turner College and Career High School gymnasium. Admission was one new, unwrapped toy.

This event deviated from past matches, as it featured only one game instead of several.

The Pearland Police Dept. (Guns) Team took on the Pearland Fire Dept./EMS (Hoses) Team in a heated battle on the court.

Pearland Police Dept. adds new officers

After five months of intense training, Alvin Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy (ACCLE) Class #103 graduated Thursday (Dec. 11) amidst a crowd of family and friends in the ACC gymnasium.

Jeff Gambrell, Academy Training Coordinator, welcomed everyone and listed some of the achievements of the class. He said that it typically takes a class five days to pass the State Licensing Exam, but Class 103 all passed within three. Eight of the 21 graduates are already employed by various agencies in the area, and many more are in the process of being hired.

Santa is stopping in Southern Trails this Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 1 to 4 pm.

Stop by the Southern Trails Recreation Center for a free keepsake photo with Santa, gourmet treats, and hand-crafted hot drinks by Java Pura. There will also be door prizes to win, courtesy of Ashton Woods Homes, Trendmaker Homes and Village Builders.

Pearland’s Hometown Christmas Festival returns Dec. 5

The City of Pearland Parks and Recreation Department hosts the annual Hometown Christmas Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 5 & Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Pearland Town Center, located at Broadway and HWY 288 in Pearland. Admission to all Hometown Christmas events is free and open to the public.
