Construction underway on first phase of 2 new sports complexes in Pearland

Construction on the first phase of the Hickory Slough and Shadow Creek Ranch sports complexes is underway.

When completed the parks will provide six international-sized soccer fields and a multipurpose sports complex for Pearland residents, city officials said. The sports parks are expected to help accommodate growth in the area and allow Centennial Park to be devoted to youth softball and baseball.

Pearland Crawfish Festival promises good times for all

It’s almost time for the Pearland Crawfish Festival, sponsored by the Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau! The party will start on Friday April 10 and will continue through Sunday April 12.

This year, the Festival will take place in the field next to Pearland Parks & Recreation, located at 4141 Bailey Rd. Parking will be off-site for $5 per vehicle and shuttles will be provided to avoid any traffic congestion.

MCE Class in Southern Trails at the Ashton Woods 60’ Model Home

Southern Trials hosted a complimentary continuing education Legal course for area Realtors taught by Rob Cook in the Ashton Woods model home yesterday. Agents enjoyed breakfast and lunch in the Ashton Woods model homes and had a chance to win several door prizes compliments of the builders in Southern Trails – Ashton Woods, Perry Homes, Trendmaker and Village Builders. This next scheduled complimentary MCE Class for Southern Trails is May 14th.

Alvin ISD Graduation Rate Tops State and Area

In a report released by the Texas Education Agency, Alvin ISD is heads and tails above the state and Houston Area averages for graduation rates. In 2013, Alvin ISD graduated 94.9% of the senior class, which was 6.9% higher that the state average and 7.5% higher than surrounding Houston area schools. 
“We are extremely proud of the district’s graduation rates because it shows our commitment to providing a quality education for our students and preparing them for their futures by handing each student a diploma,” said Director of Accountability and Assessment, Brent Shaw.
