Alvin ISD serves 18,200 students make Alvin ISD the second largest school district in Brazoria County. The district has won many awards and accolades, including a Superior rating from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). Students can choose from a wide range of programs including career and technology, advanced placement, gifted and talented, special education, fine arts and athletics.
A new high school, Shadow Creek High School, is now open for the 2016-2017 school year. The new school is located on FM 518 just to the east of Southern Trails. The campus is a three story structure with the capacity to accommodate 2,500 students. The main entrance of the campus is off of Broadway. There are multiple parking lots to accommodate the number of students and staff, as well as visitors to the campus and the athletic venues. The athletic facilities is strategically placed on the side of the campus, to minimize the impact of stadium lighting to the adjacent homes. The campus includes various learning spaces that allow for not only traditional learning in a closed classroom environment, but also independent and group learning opportunities in learning hubs and open spaces outside of the classroom.
Higher education near Pearland
Additionally, more than two dozen Houston-area universities and colleges offer every level of higher education, from technical certificates to masters & doctoral degrees. The University of Houston has a Clear Lake Pearland Campus which is a nationally accredited, upper-level university, partnered with the City of Pearland to bring career-building higher education to the Pearland community.
