The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently announced that the City of Pearland has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year ending 2012 budget.
The award reflects the commitment of the City and its staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the award, the City satisfied nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, and how well the budget document serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be proficient in all four categories and fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
When a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is granted to an entity, a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation is also presented to the individual designated as being primarily responsible for its having achieved the award. A Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation was presented to Claire Bogard, Director of Finance for her primary role in presenting the budget for the City of Pearland.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional organization serving nearly 17,400 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is designed to encourage governments to prepare budget documents of the highest quality to meet the needs of decision-makers and citizens.
