The Aldi discount grocery chain is opening a second store in the city of Pearland in early 2017. Situated on Broadway St. where the Pearland Bowling Center was once located, the store promises to provide shoppers with an alternative to other large supermarket stores. Aldi, a German company, has been expanding the brand in the states since 2014 and this second Pearland store joins several other locations in the Houston-area, including in Pasadena, Webster and Kemah.

With the end of 2016, Pearland has earned national attention after being ranked the 19th fastest-growing city of the year. Ranking No. 5 in population growth, the study found that the city saw an increase in almost 10,000 residents from 2010 to 2015. The residential growth is increasing Pearland’s business, commercial and infrastructure development. Pearland was also commended in the WalletHub study for its investment in amenities for residents, including parks, trails and master-planned neighborhoods.
The Reflection Bay Event Center will host a New Year’s Eve B-Y-O-Bash in celebration of the new year. The event, aimed to raise funds for a new school project in Haiti sponsored by One World Foundation, will feature music by the Modulation Band. The doors open at 8 p.m. and entrance is $25 at the door. Guests must be 21 years old and are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. You can learn more about the bash here!
