Alvin ISD students score higher than state average in most STAAR subjects

Alvin ISD scored higher than the state average on nearly all 2016 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness exams, according to data released Monday.

AISD earned a districtwide Met Standard rating with no campuses earning a Needs Improvement rating.

End-of-course exams for high school students included algebra I, biology, English I, English II and U.S. history.

Alvin ISD announces graduation location change

District officials from Alvin ISD recently announced the approval of a location change for both Manvel and Alvin high schools' graduation ceremonies. To provide the best experience for graduates and attendees, the ceremony has been moved to the Hofheinz Pavilion on the University of Houston campus. The Manvel High School ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m.

Manvel High School to host Amazing Race to ACC

Manvel High School is hosting the Amazing Race to Alvin Community College on Thursday, April 14, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Manvel High School. Students and parents will be able to complete essential components of registration for ACC. Attendees can complete the ACC application, complete FAFSA , a financial aid essential, and register for new student orientation. For more information, visit here.

Manvel High School's homecoming dance was canceled due to weather and is currently being rescheduled. 

Nov. 2 - 18 | Manvel HS is hosting a toy and food drive to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Drop toys in the front office and food in third period classes.

Nov. 9 | Math Night: Come out ot Manvel's Math Night where students and parents can learn more about courses, degree plans and math resources. This event will be held on Monday, Nov. 9 from 6-7 p.m. in the Manvel cafeteria. 

Alvin ISD one step closer to centralized district stadium

Alvin ISD is one step closer to building a centralized district stadium after the Board of Trustees approved for the superintendent to arrange a final contract for about 70 acres of property that would be used for the building of the stadium. This action was approved at the Alvin ISD Board monthly meeting on Oct. 13. In order for the stadium to be built, voters must first approve it on the 2015 Bond election. Election day falls on Tuesday, Nov. 3, this year.

Alvin ISD implements new online registration system

Alvin ISD has adopted a new system allowing parents to register their students for school online. This system was launched in May, allowing parents to register their students for the upcoming school year, which officially begins Aug. 24. The online system was introduced to the district in order for parents to have less hassle and less paperwork. For more information, visit here.

Manvel football reaches D1 championship game in 7-on-7 State Tournament

At the 7-on-7 State Tournament on July 11 in College Station, Manvel High School advanced to the Division 1 championship game, marking the second time the team has reached the championship in four years and the third time the team has reached at least the semi-finals in four years. The Manvel Mavericks came up short against Austin Westlake, losing 42-34 in double overtime. For more on this story, visit here.
